Vellappally Natesan Accuses Muslim League of “Butchering Democracy”

Alappuzha: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan launched a scathing attack on the Muslim League, accusing the party of undermining democracy. He alleged that the Muslim League had “butchered democracy” and had developed the arrogance of believing it could do anything while in power. Vellappally claimed that when Oommen Chandy was Chief Minister, the Muslim League had announced the appointment of a fifth minister without consulting anyone, even as it continues to speak about democracy and secularism.
Speaking to the media, Vellappally said there were deliberate attempts to portray him as anti-Muslim and to brand him as a communalist. He said the Muslim League claims that he is the biggest communalist in Kerala. Vellappally asserted that he follows the path shown by Sree Narayana Guru and has no caste-based thinking within him. However, he added that such thoughts arise when he witnesses caste-based discrimination.
