Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Ramnarayan Baghel in Walayar, Palakkad, warning that Sangh Parivar forces are attempting to introduce the mob lynching culture prevalent in North India into Kerala.
Baghel, a resident of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, had come to Kerala to protect his family. Following his killing, his wife, mother, and two young children were left without support. Vijayan described the murder as a shocking act driven by communal hatred and emphasised that Kerala must not become a target for such violent practices.
"All those responsible for this heinous crime have been brought to justice, and maximum punishment will be ensured,' the Chief Minister said. A special investigation team is handling the case, and the government will take all legal measures to prevent such violence from spreading.
To provide immediate relief to the bereaved family, the Kerala cabinet approved 30 lakh rupees from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The package includes 5 lakh rupees each for Baghel’s wife and mother, 10 lakh rupees each for his two children, and a fixed deposit of 20 lakh rupees in the children’s names. The interest from the deposit will be provided to the mother to meet the children’s needs.
Vijayan warned that attempts by Sangh Parivar to replicate North Indian-style mob violence and communal attacks in Kerala are unacceptable. He reiterated that the government will take strict action against any effort to spread religious hatred or disrupt the state’s long-standing tradition of communal harmony.
