Thiruvananthapuram: A woman involved in the sexual misconduct controversy against MLA Rahul Mankootathil has submitted a formal complaint to the Chief Minister. According to reports, she met the Chief Minister in person and handed over the complaint along with crucial evidence. Earlier this week, an audio clip — allegedly of Rahul pressuring the woman to undergo an abortion — surfaced online.

Sources close to the woman say she decided to approach the Chief Minister after facing continuous abuse and threats on social media following her allegations. The woman is expected to submit key evidence that could significantly strengthen the case against Rahul Mankootathil.

WhatsApp chats and audio clips—purportedly of Mankootathil threatening the woman and her unborn child, and forcing her to terminate the pregnancy—had previously surfaced.

Earlier audio clips had also emerged in which Rahul was purportedly heard both pressuring the woman to undergo an abortion and issuing threats. Despite multiple leaked chats and recordings, Rahul Mankootathil has not responded publicly to the allegations.

Following complaints raised by the woman—supported by female leaders within the Congress—Rahul was suspended from the party’s primary membership. The Congress leadership has stated that it currently has no association with him. However, Rahul has continued to remain active in Congress-related events, including those connected to the local body elections.
