Qatar KMCC Fund Theft Raises Concerns Among Expatriates; Muslim League Leadership Faces Questions

Thiruvananthapuram: The alleged theft of funds belonging to the Qatar Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), led by the Muslim League, has raised concerns among expatriates. The KMCC fund is collected through monthly contributions from ordinary expatriates. The League leadership’s failure to even file a complaint a year after the theft has raised suspicions among party workers.
Members of several WhatsApp groups linked to the party have been asking which League leaders travelled to the Gulf over the past year. Senior officers and League leaders have reportedly advised the police that further action should be taken only after carefully examining the issue. Bombay Shaji, considered the prime suspect, has not been arrested.
Meanwhile, Shaji has been circulating an audio message on social media threatening those who filed complaints. This is the second such message released by him. Police reportedly believe that the theft in Qatar took place with the knowledge of KMCC.
It is widely believed that the theft could not have taken place without the knowledge of KMCC office-bearers, as only they knew about the lockers that were broken into.
