Thiruvananthapuram: In a quiet yet poignant moment this Saturday evening, a tiny life has found a safe haven at the State Child Welfare Committee’s Amma Thottil in Thiruvananthapuram. At 8 pm, a ten- day- old infant, weighing just 1.965 kg, was brought to the facility, and has been lovingly named Pournna, according to a statement by Adv. G L Arun Gopi, General Secretary of the Committee.

The dedicated staff at Amma Thottil, including nurses and caretakers, welcomed the little one with care and warmth, performing the necessary initial examinations before arranging her transfer to the Thiruvananthapuram Children and Women’s Hospital. Baby Pournna is currently under medical supervision due to some health concerns and will remain in hospital care until further notice.

Since the beginning of 2025, Amma Thottil has opened its doors to 30 children in need, providing them a safe, nurturing environment and hope for a brighter future.

Adv. G L Arun Gopi also appealed to the public, noting that adoption procedures for Pournna are set to begin soon. He urged compassionate families who feel called to provide a loving home to reach out to the Committee without delay, giving this little soul the chance to grow surrounded by care and warmth.
