Trivandrum: A five -day- old newborn, wrapped in warmth, arrived at the state- run Amma Thottil (Mother’s Cradle) in Trivandrum at 9.40 pm on the final Sunday before Christmas. Weighing 3.245 kilograms, the baby boy has been named Leo, symbolising courage and strength, said Adv. G L Arun Gopi, General Secretary of the State Child Welfare Committee.

'With eyes like tiny stars, little Leo has begun his journey into life, welcoming the spirit of Christmas,' the statement added.

After initial checks by nurses and staff at the adoption centre, the baby was shifted to Thycaud Government Hospital for Women and Children for further medical assessment. Doctors confirmed that Leo is healthy.

In the last three months, October, November, and December, the Trivandrum unit has received 10 children, including six boys and four girls. The Committee appealed to the infant’s parents to come forward without delay, failing which the child will be put up for adoption.
