Tholpetti: UDF workers allegedly attempted to distribute liquor in Nedunthana on Tuesday night around 9 PM. Residents of the Unnathi area intercepted the workers who arrived to distribute alcohol. The group, reportedly comprising Indian Union Muslim League and Congress workers, was stopped under the leadership of local community elder 'Oorumuppan'.

However, additional League workers from nearby areas soon arrived, leading to tension and an attempt to create a confrontation. Upon receiving information, CPI(M) workers reached the spot to provide protection to the residents.

Considering the possibility of a clash, a larger police team was deployed in the area to restore calm. According to locals, UDF workers had been trying for several days to distribute liquor and money in the locality to influence votes. In protest against the attempt to distribute liquor for votes, residents of Unnathi held a demonstration late Wednesday night around 10 PM.
