Minister Sivankutty Dismisses Sunny Joseph's Allegation of Conspiracy in Mankoottil Case

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala General Education and Labour Minister V. Sivankutty has strongly rejected KPCC President Sunny Joseph’s statement, which claimed that the sexual assault complaint against Congress MLA Rahul Mankoottil was part of a conspiracy. Sivankutty called Sunny Joseph’s suggestion that a "legal brain" and "conspiracy" were behind the allegations an attempt to deflect attention from the seriousness of the charges and protect the accused.
“Everyone is equal before the law. It is the responsibility of the concerned officials and departments to investigate any complaint they receive. To label it as a conspiracy undermines the legal process,” Sivankutty emphasized.
The minister also questioned why those raising allegations against Mankoottil and the legal aspects of the complaint should be feared. "If KPCC is confident it has justice on its side, it should have no issue facing any legal scrutiny. The government’s duty is to ensure transparency, and we do not act based on political interests. Anyone in the wrong will face consequences," he added. He also stated that the public would recognize the KPCC President's attempt to shift focus from the real issue by creating unnecessary confusion.
Earlier today, KPCC President Sunny Joseph claimed that the second sexual assault complaint against Rahul Mankoottil was politically motivated and orchestrated. He argued that the complaint was backed by a "legal brain," well-drafted, and part of a planned strategy.
In response, Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan rejected Sunny Joseph's statement. He clarified that the complaint was indeed well-drafted and properly filed, asserting that there was nothing wrong with it. Satheesan further stated that he did not believe the complaint was politically motivated.
