Thiruvananthapuram: Kudumbashree is transforming Kerala’s grassroots economy with the launch of K-INAM, a premium agri-food brand that sets a new standard for locally driven development. Scheduled to be inaugurated this Saturday in Ernakulam by Minister M B Rajesh, this initiative signals a bold shift from traditional micro-enterprises to high-tech, market-ready businesses, empowering rural women to drive the state’s industrial evolution.

Central to K-INAM is the Kudumbashree Technology Advancement Programme (KTAP), which enables the transfer of validated food technologies from premier national institutes such as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM).

This gives women-led joint liability groups and enterprise clusters the tools to move from informal production to standardised, scientific manufacturing. The initial rollout features over 30 sophisticated products, including functional health mixes, climate- resilient staples, and value -added snacks, all crafted to meet stringent FSSAI standards for both domestic retail and international export.

K-INAM also provides a unified brand identity that ensures fair price realisation and sustainable income for thousands of producers. The launch will unveil KTAP 2.0, which emphasises deeper digital integration and enhanced market readiness, as well as the YUKTHI initiative, designed to inspire youth participation in agri-startups. Curated gift boxes showcasing the professionalism and expertise of these women-led units will also be introduced.
