Pathanamthitta: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is constructing an air-conditioned waiting room at the Pathanamthitta bus stand. The facility, being developed in partnership with smartphone brand Vivo and it is expected to be inaugurated ahead of the Onam festival.
The waiting room is being set up near the station master’s office and will have a temperature-controlled space for passengers, particularly women and families. The project is part of KSRTC’s broader initiative to improve traveller-friendly infrastructure at major depots across the state.

Pathanamthitta was chosen for the project as a key transit hub during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season. This will be the second such facility in the state, following the launch of a similar AC waiting room at the Thiruvananthapuram KSRTC terminal, also in collaboration with Vivo.
The new facility is to create more commuter-oriented public spaces at bus depots, where passengers often face long waiting times in difficult weather conditions. KSRTC officials have indicated that similar upgrades may be considered at other major bus terminals depending on the response from passengers.
