32 Malayali Pilgrims and Tourists Stranded in Nepal Flash Floods Traced by Kerala Government:Reports

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has received information about 32 Malayali pilgrims and tourists who were caught in the flash floods in Nepal. According to reports, their relatives shared the details through the special helpline numbers set up at the Chief Minister’s Office.

Of the 32 people whose details have been received, the government has spoken to 18. The remaining 14 could not be contacted so far due to telecommunication disruptions in the flood-affected areas. Around 48 Malayalis are believed to be present in the disaster-hit region. Norka has collected details of 20 of them.

All available information has been shared with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to ensure their safety and coordinate rescue operations. Government sources said everyone who has been contacted is safe.

1070 Toll-Free Number for Malayalis Seeking Assistance

Malayalis stranded in the floods, as well as their relatives, friends and those seeking information about them, can contact the Chief Minister’s Office. The Chief Minister’s Office and the State Disaster Management Authority said those requiring assistance can call the toll-free number 1070, or 9447111844 and 9747132147.

While providing information about an individual suspected to be affected by the floods, callers should provide the person’s name, the date of travel, the date on which they are believed to have reached the affected area, the last date on which they were contacted, their mobile phone number and the name of the agency that arranged their travel itinerary.

The State Disaster Management Authority said the information received would be compiled and officially forwarded to the Nepal government.
