Yellow Alert Issued for Seven Districts Today

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has issued yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts today, with isolated heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds of up to 40 km/h. Rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is expected within 24 hours in alerted districts. No rain warnings have been issued for any district tomorrow.

Residents in landslide, mudslide, and flash flood-prone areas are advised to relocate to safer locations as directed by authorities. Those living on riverbanks and in areas downstream of dams should also move as instructed. People in disaster-prone zones are urged to ensure relief camps have been opened in their locality and to relocate during daylight hours rather than waiting until night.
