High Court Expressed Satisfaction with SIT Investigation into Sabarimala Gold Theft Case

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing investigation led by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the Sabarimala gold theft case. The court acknowledged that the inquiry is progressing in the right direction and stressed that further details will not be disclosed in order to preserve the confidentiality of the case. Following its review, the court granted an additional six weeks for the investigation's completion.
The SIT, formed under the High Court's directive, is headed by SP S. Shashidharan, with Crime Branch Chief and ADGP in charge of law and order, H. Venkatesh, overseeing the process. The team also includes experts from the Cyber Division, ensuring that the investigation is conducted thoroughly, independently, and impartially. The court has approved the inclusion of additional officers in the investigation team at various stages.
The SIT is probing two distinct incidents: one involving the gold lost from the gold-clad plates of the Dwarapalaka (guardian deity) idols, and another concerning the missing gold from the Sreekovil door frames.
So far, the SIT has arrested six individuals, including the prime accused, Unnikrishnan Potty.
