Haritha Keralam Mission To Host Three-Day National Environmental Conference In Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government’s Haritha Keralam Mission will organise a three-day National Environment Summit in Thiruvananthapuram from February 23 to 25, focusing on the environmental restoration work carried out in the state over the past decade. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the summit at 12 noon on February 23 at the Uday Palace Convention Centre in Kowdiar.
Local Self Government Minister M B Rajesh will preside over the function, while ministers K N Balagopal and V Sivankutty will also take part. The conference will include 18 sessions featuring the presentation of 73 papers.
Key topics of discussion include sanitation, waste management, water security, agriculture, environmental restoration, Net Zero Carbon Kerala, energy, transport, climate change, green islands, human–wildlife conflict, nature restoration and the role of media. The programme will feature paper presentations, panel discussions and expert responses.
The event will also include presentations on the activities of the Haritha Keralam Mission and a gathering of project beneficiaries. As part of the conference, an exhibition on environmental restoration initiatives will be organised with more than 60 stalls from February 23 onward. Entry to the exhibition will be free for the public.
