Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI M State Secretariat has announced September 15 as Anti -Imperialism Day, protesting the ongoing aggressions carried out in various parts of the world, including Qatar, in the interests of American imperialism. As part of the observance, demonstrations and public meetings will be held across local centres. The Secretariat has urged all democratic- minded citizens to actively participate.
American imperialism continues to exert control over Third World countries through military and economic interventions, aiming to establish global dominance. Using Israel as an instrument, it is carrying out widespread atrocities in West Asia. The attacks on the Palestinian people have now extended to countries including Iran.
These acts of aggression, backed by the United States, are also reaching the Gulf region, home to a large Malayali population. The bombing carried out by Israel in Qatar is a stark example. The spread of such violence in the Gulf is a matter of serious concern, particularly for the Malayali community. Considering that the Gulf region supports Kerala’s economy, these attacks must be seen as deeply alarming. It is particularly troubling that the central government has yet to condemn these actions.
Meanwhile, the United States has imposed steep tariffs on Indian exports, severely impacting Kerala’s fishing sector and cash crops, along with other critical sectors.
These developments underscore the left’s long-standing stance: the central government’s foreign policy, which aligns closely with American interests, has proven disastrous. The CPI M State Secretariat emphasised that socialist countries must strengthen themselves to resist imperialist exploitation in the Third World, a need clearly highlighted by current events.
