Congress Infighting Turns Violent in Alappuzha, Youth Congress Worker Hurls Chair at Senior Leader

Alappuzha: Internal discord within the Congress party has resurfaced, with leadership now grappling with an incident of violence during a post-election review meeting. In Alappuzha’s Mannanchery, a Youth Congress worker allegedly hurled a chair at a Congress leader, injuring another senior party member. A police complaint has been filed in connection with the incident.
The clash occurred during an election review meeting related to wards under the Netaji Mandalam Committee. Tensions reportedly escalated during discussions on the party’s election performance.
According to the complaint, a chair thrown at Block Congress President M S Chandrabose, along with leaders M P Joy and P Thampi, hit a ceiling fan and instead struck N Chidambaran, former Block President of Mararikulam, on the head.
The police complaint was lodged by Mandalam President M P Joy. Police are examining the incident and are expected to take further action after preliminary inquiries.
