Christmas Eve Clash Between Carol Groups in Nooranad Leaves Women and Children Injured

Alappuzha: Around ten people, including women and children, were injured in a clash between carol groups on Christmas Eve at Karimulakkal in Nooranad. The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.


The incident occurred at around 11.30 pm on Wednesday night. The clash broke out between carol groups led by the ‘Yuva’ and ‘Liberty’ clubs in the area.


The Liberty Club was formed by a group of members who had split from the Yuva Club. A verbal altercation erupted between the two groups during the carol procession, which later escalated into a violent confrontation.


Those injured, including children and women, are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Although the situation in the area is currently under control, police have stepped up vigil to prevent further untoward incidents. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
