Chief Minister Welcomes High Court Order to Stay Release of Kerala Story 2

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan welcomed the order to stay the movie Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond. The Chief Minister also appreciated the timely intervention of the petitioners who waged a legal battle against the propaganda that defamed the country.
In the name of freedom of expression, attempts to insult an entire state and create polarisation cannot be accepted by a democratic society. At a time when there are deliberate efforts to portray Kerala as a land of extremists, every individual has a responsibility to uphold the truth with wisdom. Seeking legal means to counter such fabricated hate-spreading narratives is a model action. Let us unite to thwart the forces that are trying to destroy the secularism and brotherhood of the Kerala model, the Chief Minister wrote on Facebook.
The movie has been stayed for 15 days after the court found that the arguments presented by the petitioners against the film were valid. The court observed that releasing the movie could affect the religious harmony of the state.
The bench, headed by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, stated that the petitions seeking the cancellation of the screening permission will remain pending, and that the Censor Board must review the film once again
