Alappuzha: The 'Amma Thottil' (Mother's Cradle) in Alappuzha has welcomed another baby. The infant was left at the cradle, installed by the State Child Welfare Committee near Alappuzha District Hospital, around 2 pm on Tuesday. This time, it was a three-day-old baby boy weighing about 2.5 kilograms. Earlier, on October 1, a baby girl named Veena had been received at the same facility.
The newborn has been named 'Achuth' in memory of the late former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, who was born in Alappuzha and played a pivotal role in Kerala’s political and social struggles, said G L Arun Gopi, General Secretary of the State Child Welfare Committee.
Soon after being placed in the cradle, the baby was taken to the hospital. Initial medical examinations found no health issues. Achuth is currently under medical observation. The State Child Welfare Committee, in a press release, requested that if anyone has a claim to the child, they should contact authorities immediately, as the adoption procedures will soon begin.
