Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to take action against Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, after he was elected. Trump expressed his displeasure in an interview given to Fox News, warning that he believes Mojtaba Khamenei cannot rule peacefully. He stated that the rise to power of someone who follows the policies of Ali Khamenei would lead the United States into another war within five years. Trump mocked the Iranian regime, claiming that it is wasting time and that Mojtaba Khamenei has no significant influence.
He also suggested that, just as the U.S. had intervened in Venezuela's affairs, America should have a role in selecting Iran’s new leader. Trump further stated that Mojtaba would not be able to remain in power for long without America’s recognition, and that Iran's new leader would need to approach the U.S. for such recognition.
