Dubai: Three Indian nationals sustained injuries after an alleged drone strike attributed to Iran ignited a fire at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ) in the United Arab Emirates on Monday, marking a dangerous spillover of the West Asia conflict into Gulf territory.

The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed the casualties in a post on X, stating it was in touch with local authorities to ensure medical care and welfare of the affected nationals. The three injured were hospitalised for treatment, according to Fujairah authorities.

The UAE's state news agency WAM reported that Fujairah Civil Defence teams were deployed immediately and worked to bring the blaze under control. Separately, the UAE Ministry of Defence said Iran had launched four missiles toward various areas across the country, of which three were intercepted over territorial waters and one fell into the sea.

The UAE's Foreign Ministry issued a sharp condemnation, calling the strikes "renewed unprovoked Iranian aggression" and describing them as "a dangerous escalation, an unacceptable act of aggression, and a direct threat to the UAE's security, stability, and territorial integrity." They warned it would not tolerate any threat to its sovereignty under any circumstances.

Authorities urged the public to follow official safety advisories and refrain from spreading unverified information.

Meanwhile, Iran has denied the accusation by UAE. The state-backed media IRIB reported that Iran had no pre-planned intention to attack the said refinery. According to the report, a source attributed the incident to “US military adventurism aimed at creating a passage for the illegal transit of ships through the restricted waterways of the Strait of Hormuz”.
