Madurai: Addressing the 24th Party Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI General Secretary D. Raja called for a unified and principled resistance against the BJP-RSS regime, describing it as "a system designed to exploit" the people of India. Highlighting the deepening crisis of inequality and systemic oppression, Raja urged all Communists and Left forces to intensify struggles across the country, emphasizing the urgent need to challenge the political, economic, and social structures that perpetuate injustice.
Acknowledging the historic significance of Madurai, a city long associated with the revolutionary struggles of Tamil Nadu’s working class and oppressed communities, Raja reinforced the Communist Party’s commitment to challenging exploitation and discrimination.
Raja sharply criticized the neoliberal policies of the global capitalist system, warning that rising inequality and imperialism have exacerbated crises for the working class. He condemned the hypocrisy of Western powers that claim to uphold human rights while supporting war crimes and global instability. Additionally, he denounced the growing threat of right-wing and fascist ideologies, urging Communists to remain vigilant against forces that seek to divide and confuse the masses.
Raja emphasized the need to fight for a society free of caste, class, and patriarchy, highlighting the increasing struggles faced by India’s working people.
"India today stands at a breaking point. The structural oppressions of class, caste, and patriarchy have intensified under the BJP-RSS regime, which serves as the political tool of the most reactionary sections of the bourgeoisie and landlords. The top 1% of this country now owns more than 40% of national wealth, while half the population struggles for two meals a day. The ruling classes, in alliance with Hindutva forces, seek to revive Manu’s order under the garb of nationalism."
He further pointed to the institutionalization of patriarchy, rising violence against women, unemployment, agrarian distress, and the systematic destruction of public education and healthcare.
"The working people’s rights — to organize, to dissent, to dream — are under relentless attack. Trade unions are demonized. Universities are turned into RSS laboratories. Journalism is criminalized. The secular-democratic fabric of the Indian republic is being torn apart, thread by thread."
Raja accused the RSS-BJP of targeting the Constitution of India and attempting to dismantle its fundamental pillars—socialism, secularism, federalism, and social justice.
"Their assault on our Republic is systematic and ideological. The RSS follows a deeply divisive, communal, and fascist ideology, inspired by Mussolini and Hitler. The BJP, as its political arm, along with other organizations under the Sangh Parivar, shares a fascist contempt for democracy. They dream of a theocratic, corporate-ruled India where majoritarianism, caste, and capital dominate without restraint."
Underscoring the importance of defending public services and promoting scientific temper, Raja emphasized the need for technology in empowering the people.
"The Communist movement must boldly embrace science and technology—including digital tools and AI—for the service of the people. We must fight for universal access to knowledge, technological equity, and against the commodification of science. As Lenin once said, ‘Communism is Soviet power plus electricity.’ Today, it must be Communist strength plus democratized technology."
"Comrades, we must intensify mass struggles," Raja declared. "Let us mobilize the oppressed—workers, peasants, youth, women, Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities—under the red banner and confront the very system that breeds inequality and injustice."
With a resolute message of hope and resistance, D. Raja reaffirmed the Communist movement’s commitment to Marxism-Leninism as the key to liberation, urging all to lead by example and uphold the red flag as a symbol of revolutionary change.
