New Delhi: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) achieved a major victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, making significant gains across two campuses.

At the Delhi School of Social Work, SFI swept all six seats it contested, securing the posts of President, General Secretary, and four Executive Committee positions. The only seat it could not contest was that of Central Councillor, after its nomination was rejected by RSS- backed officials, a move SFI alleged was politically motivated. Himanshu Pandey and Mapani Lamgu were elected President and General Secretary, respectively, while Raju Kumar, Rithika, and S Gowri Sankari, hailing from Cherthala in Alappuzha, were among those elected to the Executive Committee.

In Zakir Husain Delhi College (Evening), traditionally dominated by ABVP, SFI made a breakthrough by winning the posts of General Secretary and Central Councillor. Nazim Khan was elected General Secretary, while Mohammad Zaid became the new Central Councillor. The organisation narrowly missed the Joint Secretary post, losing by just eight votes.

Meanwhile, SFI’s DUSU presidential candidate, Abhinandana, secured 9,535 votes, the highest tally in the organisation’s history at Delhi University.

Overall, ABVP won the posts of President, General Secretary, and Joint Secretary, while NSUI claimed the Vice President’s position. Student groups alleged that the election process was marred by irregularities, accusing an ABVP -- administration nexus of manipulating Electronic Voting Machines.
