Bhiwani (Haryana): Kerala has won a hat-trick of titles at the National Senior School Athletics. Kerala’s young athletes secured the championship with 67 points.
Kerala’s medal tally stood at eight golds, three silvers, and six bronzes. The decisive moment came when the boys clinched gold in the final event, the 4x400 metre relay. This marks the third consecutive time Kerala has won the championship. Haryana came second with 64 points. It is noteworthy that this is the first time the boys’ team has topped in the senior category.
This year, Kerala was represented by a 71-member contingent, including 39 boys and 32 girls. The five-day meet featured competitions in 40 events. Alongside the athletes, 12 officials, including coaches, were part of the team. In the previous edition held in Ranchi, Kerala had retained the title with six golds, six silvers, and four bronzes, earning 138 points. Earlier, in Maharashtra, the team had won the championship with a total of 24 medals, including 11 golds.
Kerala had also delivered strong performances in the senior category at the State School Meet held in Thiruvananthapuram, which laid the foundation for securing this hat-trick title.
