Red Fort Explosion: Suspected Suicide Attack Linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed

New Delhi: According to reports by national media, investigations into the Delhi explosion are progressing on the assumption that it was a planned suicide attack. In connection with the incident that has shocked the nation, Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Investigators are examining the possible involvement of Jaish-e-Mohammed militants. It is believed that the three people inside the car were suicide attackers.
This incident is the latest example of the repeated failures of India’s central home and defense systems, which oversee Delhi Police and other security mechanisms, in ensuring the safety of citizens.
The explosion occurred just hours after 2,900 kilograms of explosives were seized from Faridabad, less than 30 kilometers from Delhi, and seven individuals linked to the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed were arrested in various states. The operation was led by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Even as the Union Home Ministry, under Amit Shah, was issuing statements praising the crackdown, the explosion claimed multiple lives.

A day prior to the Red Fort attack, reports came out suggesting that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Hafiz Saeed was planning attacks on India from Bangladesh. Information about these plans surfaced when LeT commander Saifullah Saif spoke at a rally in Pakistan. The explosion underscores that no preventive action was taken by the central government in response to these intelligence reports.
Another recent report suggested that Jaish-e-Mohammed, led by Masood Azhar, is also operating from Bangladesh. The incident raises a serious question about the actions taken by India’s intelligence agencies, under the Home Ministry, during such a critical time.
