Thiruvananthapuram: In the quiet hours of Wednesday morning, a tiny life arrived at the government-run Amma Thottil under the care of the Kerala State Child Welfare Committee. Just 10 days old and weighing 3.3 kg, the newborn girl was brought in seeking protection and care.
Staff and nurses rushed to attend her as soon as the alarm was raised, giving her the warmth and attention every infant deserves. After thorough medical checks at the care centre and hospitals, the little girl was found to be healthy. She has been lovingly named “Ithal,” said Adv. G L Arun Gopi, General Secretary of the Committee.
This year alone, nine children have found refuge at Thiruvananthapuram’s Mother Cradle. Each arrival is a reminder of the hardships some children face and the vital role of compassionate care in giving them a safe start in life. Adv. Arun Gopi urged that those to whom the child belongs should come forward immediately; otherwise, the adoption process will begin.
Even in the face of abandonment, places like the Mother Cradle offer hope, protection, and a new beginning for the smallest members of society.
