Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s Minister for General Education V Sivankutty has condemned the singing of the RSS ‘Ganageetam’ by students from a private school during the inauguration of the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express on November 8, calling it a serious violation of the constitutional principle of secularism.

He said such actions undermine the secular character of educational institutions and must be strongly opposed.

Taking note of the gravity of the incident, Sivankutty has written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, seeking urgent intervention and a high-level inquiry into the matter. He also demanded strict action against those responsible.

The Kerala government, he said, remains committed to safeguarding the secular character of the state’s education system.
