Sabarimala Temple Collects 92 Crore in First 15 Days of Pilgrimage Season

Sabarimala: The lord Ayyappa temple here has recorded a significant surge in revenue during the first 15 days of the ongoing annual mandala-makaravilakku pilgrimage season, with total collections touching Rs 92 crore. This marks a 33.33 per cent increase from the Rs 69 crore generated during the same period last year, according to figures released by the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) on Monday.
A major portion of this year’s earnings came from the sale of ‘aravana’, which alone brought in 47 crore. This shows a steep 46.86 percent surge from last year’s 32 crore. The revenue from ‘appam’ sales stayed consistent with last year, at around 3.5 crore. The offerings from devotees, known as ‘kanikka’ or hundi collections, also went up — from 22 crore last year to 26 crore this year, registering an 18.18 percent increase.
The temple has also witnessed a heavy inflow of devotees since the start of the season, with around 13 lakh pilgrims having visited Sabarimala up to November 30. The mandala–makaravilakku pilgrimage season will come to an end in January 2026.
