Kochi: Arathy, the daughter of N Ramachandran who was killed in the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, has welcomed the Indian Army's precision strikes under Operation Sindoor and extended a heartfelt salute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Armed Forces, and the Union Government.
Speaking from her home in Edappally, Kochi, Arathy described the missile strikes as a source of emotional relief for the grieving families. “This news brought a kind of comfort for all of us in the family. The loss we suffered can never be compensated, but this action from the government and the Army is a response we had hoped for,” she said.
Arathy’s father was gunned down by terrorists on April 22 while the family was on vacation in Pahalgam. Recalling the moment she heard about the strikes, she said, “When the news came out in the morning, it felt like a small but meaningful relief. A comforting moment in the middle of so much pain.”
She called the name Operation Sindoor deeply symbolic and apt. “It feels like a message from the women of India — a reply through the Army and the government. Obviously, it is the apt name. But wiping away our tears isn’t easy. The pain remains, the loss is permanent,” she said.
Arathy expressed satisfaction that India specifically targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “It shows what India stands for. The message to Pakistan is clear — think twice before acting. This is the reply India gives,” she asserted.
“There could have been no more fitting response to the terrorism that took away our fathers, brothers, and husbands in front of our eyes. So, a big salute to those who made this operation possible — the Prime Minister, the Army, and everyone behind it,” she added.
She also offered prayers for the Indian Armed Forces, wishing them strength and safety. “Let all Indians see some comfort in this operation. Let Operation Sindoor bring peace and a sense of justice to all families of victims, including Himanshi.”
Arathy also referred to the widely circulated image of Himanshi Narwal sitting beside her slain husband, which came to symbolize the human cost of the Pahalgam attack. “That image says it all. We want justice, and Operation Sindoor is a step in that direction.”
