Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said that the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is recovering from its financial crisis, crediting its “imaginative leadership” and “dedicated workforce.”
The CM noted that modernisation with state -of- the -art systems, the launch of innovative services to make travel more comfortable and safe, and the resumption of previously suspended routes have enabled KSRTC to register “record gains” in revenue.
Among the new initiatives boosting KSRTC’s popularity are travel cards, UPI payment options, live tracking facilities, tourist packages, and driving schools. The rollout of modern buses with advanced passenger amenities has also attracted more commuters, Vijayan said in a Facebook post.
These measures helped KSRTC earn Rs 10.19 crore in ticket revenue and Rs 82 lakh in non-ticket revenue in a single day, September 8.
Congratulating KSRTC’s employees, management, and leadership, the Chief Minister praised their efforts in reviving the corporation and strengthening Kerala’s public transport system, bringing it back from the brink of collapse.
