Kannur: Kerala’s ongoing transformation continues to find real expression in everyday life, from modern housing and upgraded infrastructure to a robust public health network. The latest milestone in that journey stands at Koothuparambu, where the newly constructed Taluk Hospital complex is set to open to the public tomorrow, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced in a Facebook post on Sunday.

For over a decade, the state’s public healthcare sector has witnessed unprecedented growth, with major upgrades in infrastructure and services. The new 12- storey hospital building at Koothuparambu, completed at a cost of 59.23 crore rupees, represents the next stride in that journey.

Every day, between 1,200 and 1,500 people seek treatment at its outpatient wing. The expanded facility houses 171 beds, including a nine-bed Medical ICU, a four-bed Surgical ICU, and four operation theatres for general, ophthalmic, gynaecological, and labour procedures. The emergency department is equipped with 20 beds, while the labour room features four advanced suites.

The hospital also includes twelve OP counters, separate wards for medical, surgical, paediatric, and post-operative care, and a well-equipped radiology unit with X-ray and mammography facilities.
