Postal Voting Begins for Essential Staff in Keralam Assembly Polls

Thiruvananthapuram: Postal voting for essential services personnel and election duty officials is under way as part of the advance voting arrangements for the Keralam Legislative Assembly elections, with designated centres operating across the state from Wednesday through April 7, between 9 am and 5 pm daily.


A total of 14 postal voting centres have been set up for essential services personnel, while 14 Voter Facilitation Centres have been established for polling officials. An additional Designated Voter Facilitation Centre has been arranged for government employees. This centre is located at the Angel Nest Auditorium of Nirmala Bhavan Higher Secondary School at Nanthancode Devaswom Board Junction. Electoral Registration Officers have issued individual intimations to all eligible voters who submitted applications in advance.


The categories covered under the essential services designation include personnel from the Kerala Police, Kerala Battalion, Fire and Rescue Services, Prisons, Excise, Milma, Kerala State Electricity Board, Kerala Water Authority, KSRTC, Treasury, Health Department, Forest Department, All India Radio, Doordarshan, BSNL, Railways, Postal Department, Kochi Metro Rail, and accredited media personnel assigned to election day coverage by the Election Commission.
