Thiruvananthapuram: The Government of Kerala has announced a series of financial aids and welfare measures aimed at providing timely support to patients suffering from leprosy, cancer, tuberculosis, and other critical health conditions. This initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline the disbursement of funds to various health programs and ensure smooth functioning of ongoing welfare schemes.
To support the treatment of patients with leprosy, cancer, and tuberculosis, the government will allocate funds on a timely basis, ensuring that financial assistance reaches those in need without delay. This will help alleviate the financial burden on individuals battling these serious diseases and provide them with the necessary medical resources.
To facilitate the smooth running of the Kerala Aids Support Program (KASP) and Kerala Body Foundation (KBF) programs, which offer aid to patients with long-term illnesses, the government will clear any existing arrears by allocating additional funds. These funds will be made available through the Integrated Beneficiary Disbursement System (IBDS ) mechanism, ensuring that there is no delay in providing assistance.
The government will fully fund two important health initiatives: Arogya Kiranam and Shruthi Tharangam programs. These projects, which focus on health care and assistance for patients with hearing impairments, will receive the necessary financial support to operate without any hindrance.
To overcome the challenges related to the distribution of medicines, the Kerala Medical Services Corporation (KMSCL) will be provided with Rs. 914 crore through the IBDS system.
