Congress Workers Attack Journalists Over Question on Absconding MLA Rahul Mankootathil

Palakkad: Congress workers allegedly attacked journalists after they asked about absconding Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil, who is accused in a sexual harassment case. The incident took place in the Kuthanur area of Palakkad district while media personnel were seeking a response from Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala.
When reporters asked questions about Mankootathil, Congress workers reportedly assaulted them, and other journalists who tried to intervene were also pushed aside. The workers were so aggressive that they even prevented Chennithala from speaking.
The incident occurred while the court was considering Mankootathil's anticipatory bail plea. He faces charges of raping a woman and forcing her into an illegal abortion. The woman had filed a complaint with the Chief Minister and others, detailing the abuse she suffered. Mankootathil is the first accused, while Joby Joseph, a friend from Adoor, Pathanamthitta, who allegedly provided the abortion pills, is the second accused. Mankootathil is charged with rape, a crime punishable by life imprisonment.
