Thiruvananthapuram: Minister V. Sivankutty said at a press conference that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state-level textbook distribution ceremony on February 13 at St. Mary’s School, Pattom.

The government aims to complete the distribution of textbooks for the next academic year within the current year itself. As part of this initiative, the Chief Minister will formally launch the statewide distribution program at the function.

The Minister stated that after 15 years, comprehensive reforms have been introduced in the Plus One textbooks. He also noted that despite the Central Government’s failure to allocate the required funds, the State Government has ensured the distribution of uniforms to school children without interruption.

An amount of ₹1,166 crore is yet to be received from the Central Government. However, considering that the matter concerns children, the State Government has arranged funds on its own to continue distributing uniforms.

Education Minister V. Sivankutty said that the State Government is considering enacting a law to regulate social media addiction among children and has directed a five-member committee, led by Public Education Secretary P. Vasuki, to study the issue and submit a report
