UN Security Council Approves Trump Peace Plan That Omits Palestinian Statehood

Washington DC: The UN Security Council has approved U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan, which does not recognise Palestine as a state. Thirteen countries, including the UK and France, supported the proposal, while Russia and China abstained. The plan includes deploying an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. Trump responded that this was one of the greatest endorsements in the history of the United Nations. Hamas rejected the resolution, stating that it fails to address the rights of Palestinians.
Meanwhile, the U.S. peace plan for Gaza—presented without any reference to a Palestinian state—has drawn criticism for being entirely one-sided and designed to safeguard Israel’s interests. The proposal’s demand for the complete elimination of Hamas, the democratically elected authority in Gaza, has also been criticised as undemocratic. The plan merely says that the idea of statehood could progress if Gaza’s reconstruction moves forward and the Palestinian Authority carries out reforms.
Protests continue against the Trump–Netanyahu agreement, especially as Israel has killed 66,055 people in Gaza so far, while the U.S. still refuses to recognise Palestine as a state.
