Rajasthan Nursing Student Allegedly Raped and Murdered; Accused Arrested

Jaipur: A 20-year-old nursing student was found dead with her throat slit in a rented room in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in a residential building located opposite the Mundawar police station. Police arrested the accused, Upendra Kumar (21) from Mahendergarh in Haryana, while he was attempting to escape from the spot
The father of the deceased alleged that his daughter was kidnapped, raped and then killed. The incident sparked outrage among local residents, who blocked the main road for about 30 minutes before police dispersed them. Police said the accused lived in the same rented premises.
Mundwar Station House Officer Ramniwas Meena said Upendra Kumar has been arrested based on complaint filed by the deceased woman's father.
Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully criticised the state government, saying the incident once again highlighted how unsafe women remain in Rajasthan. He accused the BJP government of ignoring the rise in such crimes. “A nursing student was abducted, raped and brutally murdered in Mundawar. People are outraged, but the government is shutting its eyes and ears to everything,” he said.
