Nanded: A day after 'marrying' her deceased lover, a 21-year-old woman in Maharashtra’s Nanded district alleged that two cops from Itwara police station abetted his murder. Aanchal Mamidwar claimed that her brother and father were responsible for killing her boyfriend, Saksham Tate, 20, and that police provoked the attack.
On the day of the murder, my brother Himesh took me to Itwara police station and asked me to file a complaint against Saksham. I refused to file fake complaints. Two police officials provoked him, saying he should kill the man I love, Aanchal told PTI.
She added, 'My brother was very angry. He told the police officials that he will come to the station after killing Saksham. My father and brothers opposed our relationship due to caste differences, and their fury led to this tragedy. Then he killed him. My only demand is that the accused, my father and brothers, must be punished the same way Saksham died. I have married him and will stay with his family. I will take care of them'.
Police said Saksham was killed after a fight with Himesh, who allegedly shot him and struck him with a tile. Himesh, his brother Sahil, and father Gajanan Mamidwar have been arrested. Six persons face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and Arms Act.
