Thanga Anki Procession Begins from Aranmula to Sabarimala

Kozhanchery: The ceremonial procession carrying the Thanga Anki (golden attire) to be adorned on the idol of Lord Ayyappa for the Mandala Pooja at Sabarimala has commenced from the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple. The procession is being conducted in a specially decorated chariot. Arrangements were made at the Aranmula temple from 5 am to 7 am for devotees to have darshan of the Thanga Anki and to submit offerings. A large number of devotees have already gathered there.


The procession will reach the Sabarimala Sannidhanam before the evening Deeparadhana on Friday. It will travel through around 74 locations, including various temples, before reaching the Sannidhanam.


On Tuesday, the procession will rest at the Omallur Sree Rakthakanda Swami Temple, then depart at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and halt at the Konni Muringamangalam Temple by evening. On Thursday, after resting at the Perunadu Sastha Temple, it will depart at 7 am on Friday and reach Pampa by 1 pm Leaving Pampa at 3 pm, the Thanga Anki procession will reach Sharankuthy by 5 pm, from where it will be ceremonially received and escorted to the Sannidhanam.


The procession is being accompanied by the police, fire and rescue services, and officials of the Travancore Devaswom Board under tight security arrangements.
