Thiruvananthapuram: Devotees visiting Sabarimala will now receive a traditional Kerala sadya as part of the annadanam service, replacing the current menu of pulav and sambar, Devaswom Board President K. Jayakumar announced on Monday. The sadya will include dishes such as payasam, pappadam and pickles. The Board has also decided to enhance the annadanam facilities at Pampa.

The announcement followed the first complete board meeting since Jayakumar assumed office as Devaswom Board President.

The Board noted that the pilgrimage flow is currently under control. While there were challenges during the initial days of the Mandala-Makaravilakku season, the situation has since stabilized, Jayakumar said. The Board has also approved spot booking for darshan through Erumeli. Preparations for next year’s pilgrimage season will begin on February 1.

Jayakumar said the implementation of projects under the Sabarimala master plan is essential before preparations for the next season can commence. Discussions between the Devaswom Board and the Master Plan Committee are scheduled for December 18, followed by a meeting of the Master Plan High-Power Committee on December 26.
