Rahul Eshwar Has Criminal Background, Prosecution Presents Strong Evidence

Thiruvananthapuram: Rahul Eshwar, accused of possessing incriminating material, was remanded by the court until December 15, following a police investigation that uncovered videos and images on his laptop. The material reportedly included content related to a woman who lodged a complaint against Congress MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil, alleging rape and forced abortion.

The prosecution informed the court that Rahul has a criminal background and that the recovered material contained identifiable information about the complainant. Acting on this evidence, the police arrested him yesterday.

After reviewing the videos, the judge ruled that the footage could not be ignored, emphasising that granting bail at this early stage of the investigation could send the wrong message to society. Rahul Eshwar has been taken to Poojappura District Jail and has stated his intention to undertake a hunger strike while facing the case legally.

The court also noted that the evidence was collected after Rahul was taken to his residence for further verification and presented in court today. Rahul claimed that his arrest was unlawful and that the notice was issued only after he had been detained. However, the prosecution countered that he had not received the notice and had acted in a way that could compromise the investigation.
