LDF Reveals Manifesto; Promises House, Food, Education for All

Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF has released its manifesto for the local body elections, assuring welfare and development for all. The manifesto includes the Basic Poverty Eradication Project, as a continuation of the Extreme Poverty Eradication Mission. The Left Democratic Front affirms its commitment to ensuring greater public participation in governance, local economic development, and public welfare. It states that the action plan for achieving these goals is being presented before the people as the 2025 local body election manifesto.
The event held at the AKG Centre was attended by CPM State Secretary M. V. Govindan, LDF Convenor T. P. Ramakrishnan, CPI leader Satyan Mokeri, Uzhamalaykal Venugopal, MLA Antony Raju, Ahmed Devarkovil, Mathew T. Thomas, among others.
The BJP came to power—and is trying to hold on to it—by creating communal polarization in the country. The Congress, while adopting a soft-Hindutva approach, also maintains ties with extremist forces such as Jamaat-e-Islami and the SDPI. In terms of economic policy, there is fundamentally no difference between the BJP and the Congress. It was the Congress that first introduced neo-liberal policies, and the BJP is now pushing those policies forward even more aggressively.
The manifesto states that the Left Democratic Front is implementing an approach that ensures basic needs and welfare for the people alongside economic development.
