Yellow Alert in Multiple Kerala Districts as Rain Intensifies; Heavy Rain Likely

Thiruvananthapuram: As rain is intensifying in the state, yellow alert has been issued for four districts-Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki. For tomorrow, a yellow alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts. According to weather forecast, it has been indicated that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall.
A cyclonic circulation is present over the southeast Arabian Sea. Another upper-air cyclonic circulation exists over the central region of the Malacca Strait. A new low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 22. It is expected to move west-northwest and intensify into a Depression over the south-central Bay of Bengal by November 24. Over the subsequent 48 hours, it may further strengthen while moving west-northwest towards the southwest Bay of Bengal, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
As a result, Kerala is likely to experience moderate rainfall over the next five days. On November 22 an d23, there is a possibility of isolated heavy rain along with thunderstorms and lightning.
