Names can be added to the voter's list from July 23

Thiruvananthapuram: Eligible citizens can apply to include their names in the voter's list for the upcoming local body general elections from July 23 to August 7. Applications for inclusion, deletion, correction, or transfer to another ward or polling station can be submitted online through the official website of the State Election Commission: www.sec.kerala.gov.in.

The draft voter list will be published on July 23, and the final list will be released on August 30.

State Election Commissioner A Shajahan announced this during a meeting with representatives of political parties convened to discuss preparations for the general elections. Those who have completed 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2025, are eligible to apply for inclusion in the voter's list. A hearing notice will be generated immediately upon submission of the online application.

The hearing process is meant to verify signatures and confirm the applicant’s address. For individuals residing in distant places due to work or study, an online option will be available to attend the hearing.

The elections will be held in 941 grama panchayats, 86 municipalities, six corporations, 152 block panchayats, and 14 district panchayats. Elections to the Mattannur Municipality in Kannur district, whose term ends on September 10, 2027, will be held at a later stage.
