Kerala Cabinet Approves Key Decisions on Health, Sports, Judiciary, and Infrastructure

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cabinet, in its meeting held on November 5, 2025, made several key decisions related to various sectors including health, sports, judiciary, and infrastructure development.


Health Sector: New Positions and Infrastructure Enhancements

The Health Department will create 202 new doctor positions across various hospitals in the state, including the Kasaragod and Wayanad Medical Colleges. These positions aim to strengthen healthcare services in these regions.


Police Department: New Posts Created

In a bid to enhance security and response capabilities, the Kerala Police Academy and the Rapid Response and Rescue Force will add four new positions of Armourer Police Constable—two each at the aforementioned institutions.


Incentives for Sports Achievements

The Kerala government has decided to reward sports personalities who excelled in the 36th National Games held in Gujarat. Avathi Radhika Prakash, who won a gold medal in fencing, and Shibin Lal S.S., who earned a silver medal in swimming, will be granted salary increments. Avathi Radhika will receive a three-step increment, while Shibin Lal will be awarded a two-step increment.


Judicial Appointments

The Kerala High Court will see the appointment of V.S. Sreejith from Kochi and O.V. Bindu from Ernakulam North as Senior Government Pleaders. In addition, M.S. Brice from South Kochi and Jimmy George from the Kochi Legislative Assembly have also been appointed to the position.


Further appointments include Raji T. Bhaskar from Kadavanthra, Janardhanan Shenai from Mattancherry, A.C. Vidya from Kochi, Alan Priyadarshi Dev from Kakkand, Shilpa N.P. from Njarakkal, and Nimmi Johnson from Kollam (Punalur) as Government Pleaders.


Digital Re-Survey Project

The Cabinet has sanctioned Rs. 50 crore from the Rebuild Kerala Initiative Fund for the second phase of the Digital Re-Survey Project. The project is set to continue until March 31, 2026, to ensure the digitisation of land records across the state.


Salary Revisions in Government Corporations

The Kerala Land Development Corporation Limited (KLDCL) employees will receive the 10th salary revision benefit, which will come into effect from April 1, 2016. Meanwhile, employees of Keltron in executive and supervisory categories will have their salaries revised starting from April 1, 2017.


Reconstitution of Commission for Backward Classes

The Kerala State Commission for Backward Classes has been reconstituted. The new chairman will be Retired Judge C.N. Ramachandran Nair from the High Court. The commission will also have Sebastian Chundal from Thrissur and G. Rathikumar from Kottarakkara as members.


Amendments and Approvals

The Cabinet has approved amendments to the financial structure report submitted by Malabar International Port & SES Limited and the Centre for Management Development (CMD). The modifications will be subject to approval from the Finance Department.


State Government Guarantee

The State Women’s Development Corporation will be granted an additional Rs. 300 crore government guarantee for 15 years, subject to certain conditions.


Land Allocation for Theatre Construction

The government has decided to grant two acres of land adjacent to Idukki Arch Dam to KSFDC for the construction of a theatre complex. The land will be leased for Rs. 100 per year for a period of 10 years.
