Thanoor: The Congress staged a protest march in Ponmundam panchayath on Sunday, accusing the Muslim League–led administration of gross misgovernance. The march, held under the banner “Nava Ponmundam Nirmithi”, was organised by the Ponmundam Mandalam Congress Committee and coordinated by the District Congress Committee secretary.
With panchayath elections nearing, both the League and the Congress are preparing for a head -to- head contest. Ponmundam remains the only panchayath in the Thanoor segment without a UDF power- sharing arrangement. Participants in the march levelled sharp criticism at the League administration, alleging persistent administrative failures. The procession began near the Ponmundam bypass, passed through several wards, and concluded at Vailathur.
The march was led by DCC secretary P K Haidrose, mandalam presidents R Komukkutty and E Bavahaji, along with C Gopi, Siddique Pullatt, Adv. Danish, Jabir Pannikkandathil, V P Naser, Jamal Pullatt, and K K Abdussalam.
