BJP Worker Ends Life in Protest Against Party Nominating Soil Mafia Candidates

Thiruvananthapuram: A BJP worker in Thrikannapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, died after a suicide attempt, protesting the nomination of candidates allegedly linked to the soil mafia. Anand K. Thampi, a native of Thirumala Thrikannapuram, reportedly attempted suicide after announcing his plan to contest as a rebel candidate. He passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Anand’s suicide note has been made public.
In his note, Anand alleged that the BJP had nominated Vinod Kumar (Ani), whom he described as connected with the soil mafia, as a party candidate. He further claimed that the decision was influenced by the BJP area president of Thrikannapuram Ward, Udayakumar (Alappuzha Kuttan), Mandalam committee member Krishnakumar, and RSS Nagar Karyavahak Rajesh. According to Anand, these individuals, involved in illegal soil mining activities, aimed to ensure that a candidate aligned with their interests held power.
