Sabarimala: One week after the Sabarimala temple opened for the pilgrimage season, KSRTC has ensured a smooth travel experience for devotees, operating a total of 3,710 long-distance services to and from Pampa. The corporation also registered record revenue, earning rupees 4,27,71,797 as of Sunday.

From Pampa and Nilakkal, KSRTC operated 1,831 services, while 1,879 services arrived in Pampa from various parts of the state. The Nilakkal–Pampa chain service continues to be highly successful, with 15,860 chain services completed so far.

More than 6.5 lakh pilgrims used KSRTC services during the first week of the season. The highest revenue came from chain services, with the Pampa depot alone generating an average income of over rupees 60 lakh per day—20 percent higher than the previous season. The majority of services are being operated to Chengannur, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram. Services to Bengaluru and Chennai will begin soon, as permits have already been obtained. In total, 502 buses from 15 depots will operate special services to Pampa.

This year, drivers and staff for Pampa duty were selected based on preference and efficiency. Only those with a proven track record—no history of major accidents and no alcohol consumption—were chosen.

Mobile mechanical units have been deployed at Chalakayam, Plappally, Perunad, Vadasserikkara, Attikayam, Mukkad and Plachery to ensure uninterrupted service. KSRTC’s ambulance van is also on standby for emergencies.
