SFI -UK Elects Somiha Chatterjee as Secretary and Nupur Paliwal as President

Croydon: The 3rd Students’ Federation of India - United Kingdom (SFI- UK) Conference concluded successfully on Saturday, 29 November, at Ruskin House, Croydon. The venue and stage were ceremonially dedicated to the memory of the organisation’s martyred members, Dharani Rizal and Koroth Chandran.


The conference brought together over 50 delegates from seven cities, including representatives from SFI -UK’s four district committees in London, Leeds, Edinburgh, and Leicester. Dr. Nikhil V Mathew, Secretary of SFI- UK, presented the Political and Organisational Report, highlighting the organisation’s work and its perspective on its unique role within the material conditions of both the UK and India.

Delegates passed several resolutions, notably in solidarity with the people of Palestine, in support of Cuba, and on protecting international student rights amid rising intolerance in the UK.


The First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in the UK, Carlos Rafael Rodriguez, attended as the Chief Guest. Fraternal delegates from the Young Communist League of Britain, Caribbean Labour Solidarity, the Institute for Independence Studies, and Kairali UK also participated. SFI All India President Adarsh M Saji addressed the gathering and officially launched SFI- UK’s new website.

A 15-member committee was elected, with a five- member secretariat. Somiha Chatterjee and Nupur Paliwal were elected Secretary and President of SFI- UK, respectively. The conference concluded with red salutes to the former committee.
