New Delhi: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Delhi University, has strongly condemned an alleged assault on a teacher at Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College earlier today. The SFI claims that Deepika Jha, DUSU Joint Secretary from ABVP, physically attacked the faculty member in the presence of DUSU President Aryan Mann.
The SFI described the incident as “a direct attack on the dignity and sanctity of our educational spaces,” highlighting a pattern of intimidation and misuse of authority by ABVP members on campus. They alleged that teachers and students who uphold independent thought are increasingly being targeted.
The federation also criticised the inaction of the DUSU President during the incident, raising concerns about the “culture of silence and normalisation of misconduct” in student politics.
SFI Delhi University has urged the University and College administration to launch an impartial, time-bound inquiry and hold those responsible accountable. They emphasised that university campuses must remain spaces of learning and respectful dialogue, rather than arenas of aggression or power display.
The statement was issued by Simran (Convenor), Mayukh, Sudhanshu, and Sneha (Co-Convenors) of SFI Delhi University.
